After her turn as Pamela Anderson in Hulu's Pam & Tommy, Lily James is no stranger to showing skin — she channeled Pam's bombshell looks for the show's press tour, too — and tonight at the 2022 Oscars, she's keeping right in line with that new M.O. Her frothy pink dress from Atelier Versace Fall/Winter 2021 Couture collection balanced saccharine-sweet pink lace with an up-to-there slit and sweetheart neckline.
James's gown featured layers and layers of light-as-air pink fabric and intricate, embellished lace. The silhouette seemed like a simple slip dress at first glance, but the high slit and skin-skimming tailoring kept glamour at the forefront. Finishing touches included a sculptural diamond necklace, pink platform sandals, and smoky makeup that complimented her dark hair — a stark change from the blonde that viewers saw during their Pam & Tommy binges.
During a red carpet interview, James said that she's done playing "icons" like Anderson.
"No, no icons. But it was an incredible experience," she told Laverne Cox on Live from E!: Oscars. "It was wild, such a huge challenge and Pamela's just incredible. But I'm done. That was enough."
She also noted that it was her first time at the ceremony and the feeling was understandably surreal.
"I mean, I can't believe I'm here. This is so wild," she said. "It's my first Oscars and I'm just looking around like, the glamour of it all. It's crazy."
