Really, there are no rules when it comes to hair. ("You do you" reigns supreme, as far as hair advice goes). There are, however, certain cuts and styles that can elevate specific face shapes. So if you're looking for something that suits your round face well, you've come to the right place.
Before diving into what hairstyles work well, it's important to first determine whether you have a round face, which typically means that you have softer edges on the contours of your face. "Take a look at your cheeks; if they're the widest part of your face and you have a softer, more curved jawline, you have a round face," says Wella Professionals brand ambassador and stylist Dereq Clark.
Next, consider your hair texture. Celebrity stylist Mara Roszak likes to look at hair type over face shape when trying to figure out how to style and cut your hair. “It’s super individual and has a lot to do with your other features," says Roszak. "Haircuts should be looked at holistically; there are no specific rules that work for everyone."

Asymmetrical Lobs
Clark recommends opting for an asymmetrical lob to draw the eyes down from the cheekbones. The advantage is that it's incredibly versatile, since it still has enough length to pull into a ponytail or low bun.
Choppy Layers
If you have fine hair, add choppy layers to give it movement and add volume, says Roszak. She suggests using a nourishing hair oil, such as RŌZ Santa Lucia Styling Oil, to add shine and smooth frizz.
Center Part
Gen Z might've been on to something by decrying the side part — because parting your hair down the middle is a great option for round faces. "A sleek center part helps to give the face a more symmetrical look," says Clark.
Shoulder-Grazing Bob
Clark likes to pair a shoulder-length bob with a center part. That said, the bob is the cut of the summer — so feel encouraged to make the chop no matter how you part your hair.
Blunt Bangs
Round faces work especially well with long, blunt bangs, says Roszak. Opt for a short bob with flipped ends, like Sarah Hyland's cut, to give your style a retro feel.
Half-Up Half-Down
If you're already working with shorter hair, go for a half-up half-down hairstyle for round faces, says Clark; it elongates the face and is a quick, simple way to refresh your style.
Side Sweep
Swear by a deep side part? (We see you, Millennials!) It has its own benefit, Clark says, in helping draw the eye to the crown and add dimension to your overall look. He uses the GHD 1" Classic Curl Curling Iron to add volume and waves.
