After teasing its release during the final leg of her Renaissance World Tour, Beyoncé announced that pre-orders for her new fragrance, CÉ NOIR, are open now for fans who want a piece of the Queen B. The news broke yesterday with a video on Instagram of the silver bottle (appropriate after she decreed a disco-inspired all-silver wardrobe for fans and concertgoers), but today, Bey shared her thoughts on the release in an unboxing clip of her own.
"I wanted something to be monolithic. I wanted something to have a little bit of intimacy. Right here, you can see inside the soul of the perfume," she says of the bottle's unique design before spraying herself with the fragrance. "I actually spray this during the show a few times, gotta keep it fresh. And that is CÉ NOIR, say no more." Anyone lucky enough to attend a Renaissance show will recall that she sprayed herself with the perfume while she sang “I’m That Girl.”
According to Billboard, lucky concertgoers who attended Beyoncé's shows in Inglewood, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Tampa, Atlanta, Charlotte, Washington, D.C., got a chance to smell the new eau before it was released to the general public. On the perfume's web page, the scent is described as having "top notes of clementine and golden honey, heart notes of rose absolute and jasmine sambac, and base notes of Namibian myrrh and golden amber." It's available for pre-order now and priced at $160 for 1.7 fluid ounces, though anyone who snags it ASAP will also get a free gift.
Beyoncé's CÉ NOIR is the superstar's first new fragrance since 2014’s Rise. Past releases include Heat and Pulse, which were released in 2010 and 2011, respectively. According to WWD, "Cé Noir, may be a nod to the perfume’s origin, which according to Beyoncé’s website, was created in France. The literal name Cé Noir loosely translates to the phrase 'this black.'"
