Anya Taylor-Joy singlehandedly shut down the Emmy Awards red carpet in a backless golden Dior gown and coordinating shawl, but her fashion for the evening didn't stop there. Attending the award show's after-party, the actress was spotted in a sexy second look of the night, stripping down to a lacy lingerie set in the same buttery shade as her Emmys dress.
Photographed arriving the Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles, Taylor-Joy looked like she was dressed for a pajama party in a silky bra with lace accents and a pair of matching high-waisted shorts. She paired her undergarments with a cream-colored face mask, velvet gold pumps, and, for the pièce de résistance: a sheer hooded cape that delicately tied around her neck and flowed behind her as she made her way inside.
Beauty-wise, Taylor-Joy traded in her confectionary updo for a half-up, half-down hairstyle that was tied back with a bow.
Last night, The Queen's Gambit — the Netflix hit in which Taylor-Joy portrays chess-playing prodigy Beth Harmon — took home the award for outstanding limited or anthology series, and the show's executive producer, William Horberg, gave a special shout-out to the actress during his acceptance speech. "Congrats to the fellow nominees in this category, you know, amazing work this year," he said. "The one thing that no algorithm can predict, and no billion-dollar budget can manufacture, is word of mouth. This award is for the fans who told their friends, and who became fans, who told their friends: 'Dude, you got to watch the orphan girl chess drama.'"
He continued, "Thank you to Netflix, you guys did the rarest thing of all these days, you took a chance on risky material and you trusted the filmmakers … Anya Taylor-Joy, what can I say, you brought the sexy back to chess, and you inspired a whole generation of girls and young women to realize that patriarchy simply has no defense against our queens."
