What happens at the Friends reunion stays … on the internet until the end of time.
After Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer admitted to "crushing hard" on each other throughout the NBC sitcom's first season, rumors of a 2021 romance began to circulate. Though said rumors have since been shut down — Schwimmer's rep said there was "no truth" to reports that the former co-stars had been "spending time" together — millions are undoubtedly still holding out hope for their favorite pair of lobsters.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Aniston reminded fans that no, she and Schwimmer are not dating.
"That was bizarre," the Morning Show star said of the rumors. "I could not believe that, actually. Like, really? That's my brother." Still, she gets it. "But I understand it, though. It just shows you how hopeful people are for fantasies for dreams to come true."
During the HBO Max reunion, Schwimmer revealed that he "had a major crush on Jen" in the show's early days — which, Aniston added, "was reciprocated."
Despite the attraction, both stars were in relationships at the time and "never crossed that boundary."
"I remember saying one time to David, 'It's going to be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is going to be on national television,'" Aniston remembered. "Sure enough, first time we kissed was in that coffee shop. We just channeled all our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel."
