J.Crew Parke Blazer
-
This blazer is high quality, reasonably priced, and designed for all body types.
-
We wish it came in more colors.
For a versatile blazer that suits a range of body types, budgets, and occasions, we pick J.Crew's Parke Blazer. In fact, the brand dubs it the goldilocks of blazers because it's not too tight or loose, not too long or short. The sleek design features moderate lapels, flat pockets at the front for a sleek look while a hidden inner pocket can store any small items. Reviewers like how the blazer is lined and that the sustainable wool and elastane blend feels high quality and doesn't wrinkle throughout the day. With sizes available in petite and tall, this design truly is a crowd pleaser. Though the black and heather coal shades are staples in anyone's closet, we do wish the blazer came in more punchy colors.

This sleek suit blazer has extra-flattering details.
-
It's pricey.
This suit means business. Designed by the workwear expert, the sleek design makes you look and feel your best. The mid-sized lapels balance your chest, while the cutaway front nips your waist and plays up your hips. Even better, the blazer is made consciously from fully traceable wool and eco-conscious mills in Italy. Who says workwear has to be frumpy?

It usually arrives very wrinkly, so have your iron handy.
It's no surprise that this is one of the bestselling blazers on Amazon. You get everything you want in a blazer at an affordable price. A classic lapel, slight shoulder pads to add structure, and deep pockets. The stretchy material is machine washable for extra convenience, just skip the dryer. And with 18 colors to choose from, you can stock up on a few different shades to keep on rotation. Like with a lot of Amazon purchases though, this blazer often comes squished in a poly bag, so be prepared to steam it before wearing.

From Taylor Swift to Kaia Gerber, celebrities have been rocking Mango blazers, which look way more expensive than they actually are. While the brand makes blazers in all the latest cuts and colors, you can't go wrong with this classic fitted suit blazer. The single button and notched lapel is simple and universally flattering, going with a variety of outfits from slacks to skirts. As you may expect, this blazer is dry clean only, so it will take more energy to fit into your laundry schedule.

Best Pinstripe
Favorite Daughter The Break-Up Blazer
-
The vertical stripes and long silhouette creates one long, lean line.
-
We wish they made a petite version.
The navy pinstripe and longline silhouette of this blazer will elongate your figure while the shoulder pads balance out your hips. It's the perfect length to toss on top of a mini like Kourtney Kardashian or just wear over some tailored jeans. Some things are worth borrowing from the boys. Due to the longline length, this blazer may overwhelm shorter frames, so we wish it came in a petite version.

Best Splurge
Anine Bing Blazer
-
The color combination and pattern will remain stylish through the years.
-
It’s not made for warmer weather as thick and heavy material will make you feel toasty quite quickly.
If you’re going to splurge on a piece, pick a classic one that can be worn year after year — that means everything from the design, cut, color, and material need to stand the test of time. This piece is made from a textured Italian wool blend, making it thicker and warmer than your usual blazer. Even though you may only be able to wear it in colder weather, the herringbone pattern also never fails to look sophisticated and will stay in style for years to come.
Size Range: XXS-XL | Colors: 1 | Materials: Acrylic, wool, polyester
Best Oversized
Everlane ’80s Blazer
-
This oversized blazer still looks structured, even in extended sizes.
-
You may have to size down if you are petite.
If you are a fan of the oversized blazer trend, check out this design from Everlane. Spotted on Katie Holmes, this '80s inspired blazer makes a statement with its oversized, relaxed silhouette and shoulder pads. One of our writers instantly snapped it up when she saw it on Holmes and says it's the closest she's ever felt to channeling her '80s style icon Julia Roberts. "It's light and slouched but structured and well-tailored," writes Tamim Alnuweiri. "The fit remains oversized on me, even though that is often overlooked with clothing in my size." We love that the blazer goes up to size 20, and those who are petite will likely have to size down. You can pair it with the matching wool pants or wear it over bootcut jeans like Kendall Jenner.

Eloquii The Ultimate Suit Blazer
-
This blazer is comfy and highlights your waist.
-
It's dry clean only.
Not only is this blazer super comfortable — the brand claims it's as comfortable as your favorite cardigan — but the design is great for highlighting your curves. "If you are looking to accentuate your waist, look for a collarless style blazer that hits at the waist," says Stitch Fix stylist Stephanie Valponi. This blazer does just that and comes in bold colors like green and pink as well as basic navy and blue. Made from Camden Stretch fabric, the blazer moves with you while still maintaining its shape for a polished look. Though the blazer is fairly affordable, it is dry clean only, so factor that into the cost.

We wish it came in more colors than just black.
If you travel frequently and want a blazer you can pop into a suitcase without worrying about how it will look later, you've found your match. Made from nylon and lycra, this style is wrinkle and abrasion-resistant, so you don't have to worry about snags either. It's also machine washable, cutting out one part of your dry cleaning bill. Other practical details, like a UPF rating of 50 and an inner pocket, make it great for travel and commuting. The only thing that could make this blazer better is more colors.

Best Double Breasted
Good American Scuba Blazer 2.0
-
You get a formal-looking suit that can be worn to work and to everyday events.
-
You can only dry-clean this blazer.
For a more suited and tailored look, the double breasted blazer creates a fitted appeal that can be worn from the office to the cocktail hour. This piece is modern, yet timeless, with a strong lapel collar, slit pockets, and buttoned sleeves. It's also constructed with stretch fabric, which keeps it comfortable and safe from wrinkling. You can look and feel your best, as the smart suit glides with your movements and keeps you looking sharp. When it's time to get it freshened up, you will have to bring it to the dry-cleaners, however, as you cannot hand wash it yourself.

Laws of Motion Blazer
-
You can scan your body and completely customize the size to your fit.
-
It takes longer to deliver.
After seeing this piece in person, InStyle writer Bianca Kratky says she was pleasantly surprised with the stitching and feel of the fabric. The brand scans your body (from the safety of your home) after asking you a series of questions to custom-make the pieces just for you. Naturally, that means it takes a bit longer to deliver, but we think the custom fit and sustainable practice is very well worth it. Thanks to elongated sleeves, the cropped hem looks balanced out, especially when paired with high-waisted pants.

Polo Ralph Lauren Double-Knit Jacquard Blazer
-
The classic colors and shapes will never go out of style.
-
It runs slightly large according to the brand.
I used to have a college professor who wore this blazer to every lecture — I remember the brand's monogram — and now I see why. The classic design looks sharp and pulls any outfit together instantly. With its slim fit, this single button, cotton blend will skim your curves and not add any bulk. The gold buttons and monogram add just the right accent to the otherwise no frills designs. Consider it a one and done jacket. The brand does say it runs large, so consider sizing down.
Size Range: 00-18 | Colors: 2 | Materials: Cotton, viscose
Best Tweed
Reformation Winston Blazer
-
Reformation uses deadstock to make this beautiful blazer.
-
It runs large.
Beloved by Kate Middleton, tweed gives you that royal flair. Still this double-breasted blazer from Reformation is easy to wear with its loose fit and gray tones that seamlessly pair with other pieces. The double-breasted design has functional pockets and buttons, meaning you can actually keep your phone handy. Using deadstock, Reformation minimizes its carbon footprint and saves quality fabric from being thrown away. Considering that the model is 5'7" and wears an XS, the fit likely runs large and can swallow up petite frames.
Size Range: XS-XL | Colors: 2 | Materials: Polyester, acrylic, wool, nylon
Best Bouclé
Endless Rose Accent Bouclé Blazer
-
The plaid pattern adds a touch of sophistication.
-
Pairing options may be limited by the jacket’s bold pattern.
You can expect pieces made with bouclé fabrics, like this blazer, to be soft yet structured and sturdy. The looped yarn adds a texture to elevate the overall look. Throw in a plaid pattern with a contrasting collar and you’ve got yourself a one-of-a-kind look.
You’ll find that the polyester and wool design is both long-lasting and cozy to wear. And while the number of outfits you can piece together with this bright blazer might be limited, it does have a matching dress for you to go full monochrome.
Size range: XS - L | Colors: 1 | Materials: Polyester, wool
Best Faux Leather
BlankNYC Don't Rush It Blazer
-
This affordable blazer is a fresh take on the leather jacket.
-
You might want to size down if you are petite.
Want a blazer that you can wear on a night out? Look no further than the It-Girl-favorite leather blazer. Swap it in for your regular leather jacket, and you'll look extra stylish with the intriguing combination of a sophisticated cut combined with a fierce fabric. We like BlankNYC's faux version that comes in your standard black as well as a rich green and brown and features an oversized fit with large pockets and a single button for effortless ease. Wear it with trousers or jeans during the day and then transition into the evening by taking a cue from celebrities like Gigi Hadid by keeping only a bra on below. The lapels on this blazer show off just the right amount of cleavage.
Size Range: XS-L | Colors: 5 | Materials: Polyurethane, polyester
Best for Summer
Bardot Charlie Casual Blazer
-
Both in color and material, this blazer is made for warmer weather.
-
It’s likely to crinkle easily.
In the summertime, you’ll likely want to swap out a wool blazer in favor of a more breathable, airy fabric that won’t trap your body heat inside. Enter: This heavenly linen-cotton blend blazer in a delightful lilac hue, perfect for warm months. The soft lavender shade invites a sense of whimsy into your outfit, while the linen will keep you well-ventilated and cool.
While we adore linen, it does have the tendency to wrinkle. Make sure to hang the blazer after each wear, rather than fold it, to avoid any creases. Otherwise, enjoy how the lightweight jacket loosely drapes along your body and invites just the right amount of wind to pass through.
Size range: XS - L | Colors: 1 | Materials: Viscose, linen
Best Satin
The Drop Belted Satin Blazer
-
The belt allows you to create a more cinched-in look.
-
We wish it came in more colors.
This blazer is the ultimate day-to-night piece. Rather than a button closure, the silky blazer can be tied closed using the provided belt, which also helps to accentuate your figure some more. You'll still find the classic blazer details, like lapel collars and buttoned sleeves, but in a much more relaxed fabric (and vibrant color). As a matter of fact, we love the lively hue so much that we wish it was offered in more colors since we know yellow isn't exactly the most universal color to wear. We recommend pairing the bold blazer with a mock neck for the day and then a bralette at night.
Size Range: XXS-XL | Colors: 1 | Materials: Polyester, elastane
Best Colorful
MakeMeChic Collar Sleeve Blazer
-
It comes in nine fun colors.
-
We wish it had a more inclusive size range.
Still obsessed with the Barbie movie? Us too. While we may not be wearing head to toe pink daily, we do love adding pink pieces to our outfits like this hot pink blazer. A pop of color on a well-tailored suit is always a good option to own, and this one comes in eight additional shades. Wear this with a white bodysuit and your favorite blue jeans to a brunch date for a powerful yet playful outfit. Coming in sizes XS-L, we do wish it had more of an inclusive size-range.

Abercrombie Boyfriend Suiting Blazer

Need a casual blazer to run into town and complete a few errands in? Well, throw on this blazer from Abercrombie with a pair comfy boyfriend jeans and a baseball cap because this blazer will have you running through your to-do list in style. Coming in a classic pinstripe, the blazer is neither too fitted nor too oversized. You can easily wear it to just about any occasion, and look like a relaxed and stylish person. Just be aware that some reviewers are claiming that the color in real life does not fully match what is pictured.

Best Corduroy
Polo Ralph Lauren Corduroy Blazer
-
Despite being made from a heavier fabric, this blazer is tailored and streamlined.
-
We wish it came in more than one color.
Cords have certainly made a comeback, and it won't be long until everyone will be wearing corduroy up top, too. Be ahead of the game with this corduroy blazer from Polo Ralph Lauren. Made from wide wale corduroy, the blazer brings all the texture and weight that we are looking for while maintaining a slim, tailored silhouette. Pockets add that '70s flair without adding bulk. While we love the earthy brown, we wished the blazer came in more rich shades.
Size Range: 00-18 | Colors: 1 | Materials: Cotton
What to Keep in Mind
Fit
Oversized, fitted, longline, cropped — these days there are so many different types of blazers out there that match different outfits and aesthetics. But no matter the silhouette, all blazers should fit you properly for the best look.
According to Valponi, a blazer should fit comfortably at your shoulders with the seam landing at your shoulder. It shouldn't feel too tight when you move your arms. She says the bend in the waist should also land where you naturally curve, providing movement while also looking customly tailored. You want to make sure the sleeves aren't too short or long — they should land right at your wrist. If they are a bit too long, you can cuff them for an instant fix or get them tailored. For those who are petite, look for blazers that come in multiple sleeve lengths.
A good shopping tip is to try on the blazer with different clothes underneath to see if it's not too tight when wearing layers, especially when buttoned up.
Color
A solid black or navy blazer is a staple in everyone's closet — it goes with just about anything and can be easily dressed up or down. Same goes with classic prints like checks and stripes. Usually coming in gray and brown hues, these prints act as a neutral and are as versatile as black but have a tad bit more personality.
If you want to refresh your wardrobe with something new, consider a colorful blazer. From pastel to neon, colorful blazers instantly transform a basic outfit into a fierce 'fit. We love how the MakeMeChic Blazer comes in hot pink for a Barbiecore moment. You can even wear bottoms in matching shade for a sleek monochrome look. "For a smart, professional look, opt for sleek pants and a matching blazer," says Valponi. "Going tonal gives a powerful statement, allowing simplicity to speak for itself."
Material
For a blazer you'll be wearing to work, you can't go wrong with a fabric like wool. It's breathable, wrinkle resistant, and elegant. A lot of professional blazers are also made from twill or other polyester blends. Keep in mind that these fabrics often tend to be dry clean only, so factor that into the price and convenience of wearing the item.
For a less formal look, go for fabrics like linen, denim, and corduroy, like Polo Ralph Lauren Blazer. But if you really want to make a statement, there are plenty of blazers made from velvet, sequins, satin, and leather that are perfect for parties and nights out.
Your Questions, Answered
How do I style blazers for work?
If you've forgotten how to dress for the office or want some inspiration on how to shake it up, Joanna Angeles, Head Stylist at Tobi, gives her advice on how to style a blazer for a professional setting.
"Heading back to the office, style this wardrobe staple with neutral monochrome separates or a matching set for an effortless chic look that's put together. Pair with comfortable shoes such as kitten heels, slingback pointed toe flats, or loafers," says Angeles. "Opt for a top that would work in a professional setting such as a mock neck or button up and tuck into either pants or skirt, and for warmer days, drape the blazer on your shoulders. For a fresh take on office wear, pair a blazer with a slip midi dress and mules or white sneakers."
How do I wear a blazer casually?
The beauty of the blazer is that it can also be dressed down for less formal occasions.
"I love making formal attire casual and casual attire formal. Blazers are perfect for this," says celebrity stylist Solange Franklin. "To make a blazer look a little more casual, pair it with jeans and then with a sweater vest. Depending on where you're going, throw on some sneakers or booties and you have an easy, trendy look."
You can also take a cue from Hailey Bieber, who is often caught pairing blazers with hoodies or denim cutoffs for a no-pants look.
How do I style a blazer for a night out?
Coming in fun fabrics and colors, blazers should also be a part of your going-out wardrobe.
"Since blazers are a great basic, try mixing one with trendier pieces like a flattering corset or fun knit fitted top with asymmetrical details. Trending bottoms, such as a mini skirt or straight leg trousers, also pair well with blazers," says Angeles. "Finish off the outfit with strappy or platform heels and a handbag in a matching color. For a date night fit, opt for a romantic mini or bodycon dress which will mesh well with a boxy blazer."
Less is more when it comes to going out, and celebrities like Chrissy Teigen and Dua Lipa love wearing a blazer with only a bra underneath or nothing at all. Megan Fox and Emily Ratajkowski have also made it perfectly acceptable to wear an oversized blazer like a dress, often paired with knee-high boots.
