No one gets bored of their hair as often as celebrities.
But I get it. If I had access to the crème de la crème of hairstylists and colorists, I would get a trim or dye my hair a few shades lighter whenever I feel like it, too.
Even though my Instagram fees is filled with fresh bobs and new pastel hair colors every other day, there are a handful of recent celebrity hair transformations that are so drastic (and just so damn good), I just can't stop thinking about them.
From Jennifer Lopez's curtain bangs to Tiffany Haddish's shaved head, keep scrolling for 10 celebrity hair transformations that made headlines this past year.
1. Emily Ratajkowski
Even Emily Ratajkowski couldn't resist the urge of a DIY hair coloring session while quarantining at home during the pandemic. The multi-hyphenate star and Kérastase ambassador went blonde for the first time ever in June 2020. Her honey blonde hair was created in partnership with the brand, and she even starred in the campaign for its Blond Absolu line.
2. Tiffany Haddish
With red carpet appearances and public appearances canceled for most of 2020, Tiffany Haddish took the opportunity to do something she's always wanted to do: shave her head. After buzzing her hair off herself last summer, the comedian told Jimmy Fallon that she took the plunge in order to "get to know her scalp and body better." Eventually, her shaved head make its red carpet debut at the 2020 Emmy Awards.
3. Kaia Gerber
"I wish I was only tempted," Kaia Gerber told InStyle of her pandemic hair color journey. After bleaching her hair at home with hydrogen peroxide (which isn't a recommended way to go blonde), the model dyed her bob bright pink. "The bleach was my excuse to go pink because I've always wanted to do it," she said. "But, I'm telling you, if you have natural beautiful dark hair, it's not worth the bleach."
4. Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato ended 2020 by cutting their waist-length hair into a bob with choppy long layers and an undercut. They also had fun with their hair color, too, dyeing it platinum blonde and leaving an inch of dark roots for an effortless, lived-in vibe.
5. Billie Eilish
A breakup, milestone birthday, or new season are a few common situations that spark a major hair change. Or if you're a Grammy Award-winning singer like Billie Eilish, a new album. Ahead of debuting the first single off her upcoming second album, Happier Than Ever, Eilish shocked the internet by ditching her black hair with slime green roots for platinum blonde. The singer also switched up her haircut too, opting for a trendy shag with curtain bangs.
6. Halle Berry
There's no wrong time to debut a new haircut, but the first full, in-person award show since the coronavirus was declared a global pandemic is the perfect opportunity to bring some much-needed glamour. And that's exactly what Halle Berry did with her micro asymmetrical bob and choppy baby bangs at the 2021 Oscars. The actress also added allover caramel highlights to her short cut, too.
7. Ciara
While Ciara is known for her revolving door of hairstyles and hair colors, her waist-length icy blue hair is a goodie. The singer debuted the bold color during the fall of 2020 while everyone was still at home, bored, and debating adding pastel hair dye to their carts.
8. Camila Cabello
While Camila Cabello is known for her long curly hair and curtain bangs, the singer moved on to another trending look in the fall of 2020. She "lost her short hair virginity" when she got this cute shaggy bob and wispy bangs.
9. Jennifer Lopez
"What would J.Lo do?" is what so many people ask themselves before getting into their stylist's chair. So, if the star's layered curtain bangs are any indication, expect to see a lot of this style of fringe in the near future.
10. Margot Robbie
Margot Robbie is another celebrity who's taken bangs for a spin. The actress showed up to the 2021 Oscars with significantly darker hair than her signature buttery blonde shade, but her soft, textured bangs are what topped the night's best beauty lists.
