Two of our favorite Hollywood actresses, Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie, are joining forces “physically and intellectually” in an upcoming project, co-starring and co-producing Maude v. Maude. During a new interview with Variety, Berry gets candid about their collaboration's shaky start and how it quickly forged into a friendship through common struggles.
"We had a rocky start, and I think that is going to serve us well in our screen time together," Berry told the publication.
When asked why they got off on the wrong foot, Berry kept mum about the reasoning, saying people will have to play the waiting game and reassuring us that “it’s a good one.”
Despite their rough patch initially, it evolved into a friendship over bonded mutual experiences.
"We've been talking a lot about divorces and exes," she shared. "We bonded, let's say that."
Jolie was previously married to Brad Pitt for four years after Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 — the two have been in a legal battle ever since. Berry and Olivier Martinez split after two years of marriage and finalized in August, eight years after filing.
Berry described their new project as a blend of Mr & Mrs Smith and Mission: Impossible with a comedic twist. She is "thrilled to work with another woman and craft a story with our sensibility and from our point of view." Berry finished by calling Jolie a "formidable" person.
