While the White House has certainly seen its fair share of fashionable first ladies over the years, there’s no denying that Dr. Jill Biden may be one of the most stylish to ever walk its hallowed halls. From glitzy off-the-shoulder gowns to sequined emerald frocks, FLOTUS knows how to show up and out for any occasion — and this year’s White House Halloween celebration was no exception.
On Monday, Jill welcomed a group of children to the White House for its annual trick-or-treating event alongside her husband, President Joe Biden. While the president opted not to wear a costume for the occasion, the first lady dressed as her and Joe’s beloved cat, Willow, by slipping into a gray long-sleeve midi dress complete with faux fur wrist cuffs, a waist-cinching black belt, and a pair of fluffy cat ears.
Dr. Biden drew on a nose and whiskers with black eyeliner to fully commit to her festive feline ‘fit, and she rounded out her look by adding a few of her signature accessories: diamond drop earrings and dainty silver necklaces.
Aside from handing out candy to the little ones in attendance, FLOTUS also read an excerpt from the children’s book Ten Spooky Pumpkins in promotion of the evening’s Hallo-READ! theme.
“A teacher for more than three decades, including years spent as a reading specialist, First Lady Jill Biden created this year’s theme, ‘Hallo-READ!,’ with the White House’s festive décor featuring famous literary characters, ghoulish tales, and ghost story time,” a press release shared ahead of the event read. “Dr. Biden’s theme encourages families and children to grab a flashlight, pick out their favorite Halloween book, and relish in the spooktacular thrill of reading together.“
