Julia Roberts is reflecting on nearly two decades of motherhood. Today, she commemorated her daughter Hazel Patricia and son Phinnaeus Walter's birthdays. The twins are 19 and to celebrate, the Academy Awards-winning superstar shared a super-sweet black-and-white photo that showed the kids as toddlers.
In the snapshot, Hazel and Phinnaeus are in their mother's lap. The background isn't in focus, bringing all the attention to Roberts sitting cross-legged with her kids. The actress also shares a 16-year-old son, Henry, with her husband Danny Moder. The two married on July 4, 2002, and recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary.
"✨✨19✨✨ There are no words for the joy, the fun, the wild rumpus of life together. 💕," she captioned the image.
While Roberts has kept her children out of the spotlight for most of their lives, she does take the time to speak about motherhood. Last year, she opened up to Hoda Kotb during an appearance on the Today show, saying that she sometimes faces the fear of messing it all up — though she did it with her signature Julia Roberts charm.
"Sometimes, I get gripped with fear of blowing it," Roberts said. "And sometimes, I've just said to my kids, 'So today, me as a mom? Can we just take that off the board? Because I blew it.'"
And while she ruled rom-coms for much of her career, fans have noticed that Roberts has slowed down since she became a mom. It was by design, she explained during an interview with CBS Sunday Morning.
"The life that I've built with my husband," Roberts said of her priorities post-kids and far, far from the glare of Hollywood's spotlight. "The life that we've built with our children. And that's the best stuff … The point is to come home at the end of the day triumphantly to them."
