Kate Middleton Just Wore an Uncharacteristically Somber Outfit

She and Prince William had a little outdoor adventure.

After wearing an easy, breezy outfit to the Rugby World Cup, Kate Middleton pulled a fashion 180, trading in her all-white outfit for a much darker combination of grey and black. During a visit to Madley Primary School in Hereford with her husband Prince William, the Princess of Wales paired skinny black pants with a black top, sturdy-looking lace-up boots, and a tweedy, textured grey blazer for a walk through the forest. The quick wilderness walk was part of the school's weekly outdoor class, which is a special part of the curriculum that encourages "environmental awareness, conservation and woodland management," according to People.

Kate and her curtain bangs helped the kids prep food at a campfire and she even had a little fun inspecting a tree den after she and the kids stripped some logs and set up a makeshift home base. While the kids wore bright red, Kate and William kept their clothes low-key, with William wearing a grey blazer and a pale blue shirt.

According to the school's official website, "Forest school is a fully integrated part of our curriculum and is accessible to all year groups, not just building dens but finding out about ecology, experiencing writing in the woods, construction from natural materials, using equipment safely, using knives correctly and enjoying a stimulating environment."

People adds that when Kate and William went to Norway in 2018, they spent time with kindergarten kids who are part of a program that has them being taught outside in sub-zero temperatures. And in another move to show how much she loves the outdoors, Kate helped design a “Back to the Nature” garden for the 2019 Chelsea Flower Show. The Royal Horticultural Society teamed up with and designers Andrée Davies and Adam White to highlight all the benefits of time spent outside.
