While it’s not every day that members of the royal family wear something that would look as great in the real world as it does in the palace (see: tiaras and diamond necklaces), Kate Middleton just sported a gorgeous green gown that would make the perfect addition to any holiday outing.
On Thursday, the Princess of Wales debuted the jewel-toned dress while hosting Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden at Windsor Castle alongside her husband, Prince William. Knowing that you can never go wrong with a midi dress (one of Kate’s most-reached for silhouettes), the former duchess slipped into a dark green version of the frock complete with long sleeves, a waist-cinching belt, and an asymmetrical high-low hem during the gathering. Middleton accessorized the holiday-ready look with matching green pointy-toed heels and diamond drop earrings, and she wore her brunette hair down in blown-out waves with a side part.
Princess Victoria looked equally as festive for the occasion, wearing a cherry red embroidered tweed jacket layered over a white pussy bow blouse and paired with black trousers. For their part, both William and Daniel sported navy blue suits with white undershirts and ties.
“A pleasure to welcome The Crown Princess of Sweden and Prince Daniel to Windsor this morning,” the official Prince and Princess of Wales’s Instagram account captioned a photo of the royals.
The couples’ joint gathering came just hours before they hit the town for a double date at the Royal Variety Performance in London, where they later enjoyed performances by headliner Cher, Swedish popstar Zara Larsson, and more.
