While some of us may have no issue with binging the entirety of Gossip Girl for what feels like the hundredth time (It’s me. Hi!), it seems that Leighton Meester’s 8-year-old daughter, Arlo, couldn’t care less about watching reruns of her mom’s hit show — at least for now.
In a new interview with The Messenger, the actress opened up about her daughter’s indifference while promoting the upcoming holiday movie, Exmas. “I've actually had that thought, but I don't know,” Meester, who played Blair Waldorf in the series, said when asked about letting her children watch Gossip Girl reruns.
“I'm sort of happy about the fact that ... they don't care,” she added. “They don't care. They don't respect us. They don't care.”
Meester continued, “My daughter has seen Monte Carlo and it's like definitely a movie for her age. And I think she's like, 'Oh, that's kind of cool and interesting and very sweet,' but she's the perfect age for that. She's definitely not the age for Gossip Girl, so [we have to] wait. She is just like, 'Can I have juice?'”
In addition to Arlo, Meester also shares a 2-year-old son with her husband, Adam Brody.
It’s this at times “tricky” family dynamic, Leighton added, that her new movie does a great job of depicting: “Family is tricky and I think that this movie captures — in obviously a very heartwarming and fun way — it shows the good, which is gathering and gifts and food and all the fun traditions that you have with your family,” the actress shared.
“And then also family stuff. There is a lot of different personalities, and everyone is like, 'We just flew.' It's been crazy,” she continued. “And now we're all in the same house and everyone is insane. And nobody gets on your nerves more than your family. “
