Growing up, I remember staring at my mom’s closet, which spanned the entire length of her bedroom wall. Stacked inside were boxes and boxes of shoes containing every single style and color of footwear imaginable. Naturally, I took after her, curating my own, extensive shoe collection one pair at a time. Now, you might as well call me a self-labeled shoe expert, as I study celebrity footwear trends on a regular basis — and today's star of choice is Blake Lively.
Seeing as Lively donned strawberry blonde hair during a recent outing, it’s safe to say she was on the set of her latest movie, It Ends with Us. Her laidback outfit featured a bathrobe-like coat, while a printed button-up shirt showed through. Purple cargo pants billowed around her legs and led way to my favorite part: her black platform boots.
Lively’s boots featured a tall, slim shaft, while the upper displayed raised seams and clean lines. The thick platform gum sole boasted a creamy tan hue that perfectly contrasted with the stark black, making me think of an Oreo cookie. Even better, similar versions aren’t hard to come by, so securing your own Lively-inspired boots is more than feasible.
Sam Edelman Shaw Lace-Up Bootie
Børn Capella Platform Bootie
Sam Edelman’s Sidney boots are almost an exact match, though they’re nearly sold out. Thankfully, the brand offers an on-sale $90 version that includes a gummy sole, stitched upper, and lace-up front. The Børn Capella platform booties forgo the bouncy texture and instead have a beige wood-like heel. Still, the shoe encapsulates the two-toned design, a slender shaft, and a sexy tie-back detail.
You don’t need a super bold heel to achieve Lively’s look, either. More low-key options, like these Sorel finds and these Jeffrey Campbell chelsea boots, include the central elements. This way, you can secure your perfect match without sacrificing key characteristics.
Lively-inspired shoes don’t only look good, but they’re so easy to style. The universally flattering footwear pairs with nearly everything, allowing you to dress the shoe up or down. Consider pairing your new shoes with an oversized chunky knit sweater and black skinny jeans for a casual look. Or, slip on a pair of sheer tights and a mini dress for a grungy, going-out ensemble.
