Everything to Know About 'Love Is Blind’ Season 6

The pods, as they say, are open once again. On Dec. 12, 2023, Netflix revealed its hit reality dating show, Love Is Blind, had been renewed for not one, but two more seasons — and that the upcoming Season 6 would premiere just two months later, in February 2024. (TBD on Season 7’s premiere date, but since 2022 and 2023 each got two seasons of the show, fans wouldn’t be wrong to hope it comes later in 2024.)

This double-season renewal shouldn’t come as too big a shock to anyone familiar with Love Is Blind. The series became wildly popular the moment it debuted on Netflix in 2020, with fans raving about its unconventional premise and format, jaw-dropping drama, and endlessly quotable cast members. 

For the uninitiated, the show works in three phases: First, women and men date each other (yes, this series is painfully heterosexual) in “pods” — aka, rooms where they can hear each other, but not see each other. After spending time talking and getting to know one another as deeply as one can in a short period of time, the contestants are supposed to either couple up and get engaged (still without seeing each other), or leave the show alone.

The happily engaged couples then get to meet face to face before jetting off on a quasi-honeymoon to explore their chemistry. And finally, the real test comes when they return to their hometowns together, testing out what “real life” will look like as they cohabitate and meet each other’s friends and family — all leading up to their wedding day, where they are expected to say either “I do” or “I don’t” at the altar.

It’s a lot to pack into roughly 10 or so episodes, but somehow, the series keeps doing it over and over again. Here’s everything to know about the latest season:

'Love Is Blind' Season 6 Release Date & Schedule

Season 6’s release date is all too fitting for a show about finding love: The first round of episodes drop on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 2024. As per usual with this series, only the first few episodes will release on the actual release date; the rest of the episodes will release in batches each Wednesday over the course of the following weeks.

'Love Is Blind' Season 6 Filming Location 

The pods have once again changed cities. After previous seasons filmed in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Seattle, and Houston, Love Is Blind has taken its talents to Charlotte, North Carolina, for Season 6. Once the couples leave the pod, have their tropical getaway (which is usually filmed at a resort in Mexico), and start living their lives in the real world, viewers can probably expect some Southern hospitality, Tar Heels references, and debates over the best barbecue joint.

'Love Is Blind' Season 6 Trailer 

Netflix released the first Love Is Blind Season 6 teaser on Dec. 12, 2023. While no actual footage of the season was revealed (instead, it showed a clip of hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey “building” the pod walls), it served as the first announcement of the season’s release date.

On Jan. 17, the season’s “meet the contestants” video dropped on Instagram, giving fans quick glimpses of each single looking for love on the show. If their brief intros are any indication, this season’s cast is going to have multiple fan-favorites. Many IG comments pointed out the cast seems more down to earth than past seasons, and many praised the season for having more contestants in their late 20s and early 30s, as opposed to the early 20s demographic many reality dating shows are catering to.

A week later, on Jan. 23, fans got to see their first real glimpse of the season when Netflix released the Love Is Blind Season 6 trailer, which is packed with dramatic clips of the contestants meeting — and falling in love with — each other in the pods. Without giving too much away, the trailer teases a love triangle (or, more accurately, a love “star”), a contestant talking about her daughter back home (a first for the show!), and a question about Instagram followers (woof). Of course, there a plenty of sweet moments too, hinting there will hopefully be multiple couples to root for once they leave the pods.

Of course, not all of these contestants will make it out of the pods — some of them might end up getting little to no screen time at all — so try not to fall too hard in love with them as you deep-dive into their personal lives.

'Love Is Blind' Season 6 Hosts

As per usual, married celebrity couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey are returning to host this season, which they’ve done since the series debut in 2020. The Lacheys don’t have too many hosting duties throughout the duration of each season; they mostly pop in here and there during the big transition moments of the season: when contestants arrive at the pods, when the engaged couples go on their tropical vacation, and near the end of the season, before the weddings. 

That said, they do play a big role after the finale, since they host each season’s live reunion, when the contestants give updates on their relationships and hash out any unfinished business from the season. This is when the Lacheys’ hosting skills are really put to the test… and they don’t always pass with flying colors. Specifically, the pair faced backlash after the ill-fated Season 4 live reunion show — which began streaming an hour after its scheduled time — when fans accused them of taking sides in the contestant drama. Viewers also slammed Vanessa for asking the couples about who would be the first to have a Love Is Blind baby.

However, the Lacheys are here to stay for the foreseeable future.

'Love Is Blind' Controversy 

It’s hard to find a reality series with a squeaky-clean track record, and Love Is Blind is certainly not one of them. Multiple contestants from across seasons have come forward to accuse production of mistreatment and poor working conditions, from seemingly ignoring individuals’ mental health conditions to allegedly making contestants work 20-hour filming days and depriving them of water, food, and sleep. In recent months, the allegations have gotten even more serious.

On Oct. 3, 2023, it was revealed Season 5 contestant Tran Dang is suing the show’s production team, Kinetic Content and Delirium TV, for alleged sexual assault, false imprisonment, and negligence. According to the lawsuit, Dang alleges her former fiancé from the show, Thomas Smith, sexually assaulted her during filming. Dang is also suing Smith. (Both Dang and Smith were contestants on the show, but their storylines weren’t shown on the season.)

Love Is Blind creator Chris Coelen responded to the allegations, telling People, "If anybody ever came to us and said they felt unsafe in any way, we would immediately remove them from the experiment and talk to them, and try to get to the bottom of it. Unfortunately, in this case, that kind of sentiment was never addressed to us in any way, nor was any alleged wrongdoing brought to our attention ever."

The series came under fire yet again as recently as Jan. 3, when it was revealed another contestant from Season 5 whose storyline was cut, Renee Poche, is suing Netflix and Delirium. According to People, Poche is alleging Netflix and Delirium "forced" her to participate in the show and move forward with her fiancé, Carter Wall, despite her voicing concerns about his alleged "erratic and alarming behavior and emotional instability."

Apparently, there have been some serious issues behind the scenes at Love Is Blind that have hopefully been addressed for Season 6 and beyond.
