Just months after Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling graced our screens as Barbie and Ken in the highly anticipated — and now-iconic — Barbie movie (giving us weeks’ worth of sublime lines to quote all the while), it seems that the hilarious duo will soon join forces yet again.
According to Variety, Robbie and Gosling are set to co-star in Warner Bros.’ upcoming Ocean’s 11 prequel, which will be directed by Jay Roach and written by Carrie Solomon. While little else is currently known about the film, the movie will serve as the first Ocean’s installment since Ocean’s 8 premiered back in 2018, starring Sandra Bullock and Anne Hathaway.
“I can’t really say much,” the upcoming project’s producer, Josey McNamara, recently told Games Radar. “But I think we’re just trying to do right by the franchise. I’m excited for people to experience it when it’s ready. [Margot and Ryan are] wonderful together. The more projects even outside of that we can have them do would be amazing.”
News of the actors’ new venture comes shortly after Greta Gerwig’s Barbie made history by having the biggest opening of 2023 and becoming the only movie “solely directed” by a woman to earn over $1 billion.
But while fans of Margot and Ryan may not have to wait too long to see them reunite on the big screen, Gerwig recently revealed that it may be a while before we see them slip back into their famous pink shoes for a Barbie sequel.
“At this moment, it’s all I’ve got,” the director told Variety earlier this year. “I feel like that at the end of every movie, like I’ll never have another idea and everything I’ve ever wanted to do, I did. I wouldn’t want to squash anybody else’s dream but for me, at this moment, I’m at totally zero.
