Hotties, the wait is over. Last night, Megan Thee Stallion dropped "Cobra," the single that she'd been teasing with super-sexy, very serpentine promo photos and posts for the past week. And though the single may be her most personal to date, with lines that address her missing her parents (her mother, Holly Thomas, was diagnosed with a brain tumor and passed away in March 2019 and her father died when Megan was just 15), handling depression and anxiety, and even struggling with self-harm, there was a specific line that had her fans digging deeper: “Pulled up, caught him cheatin’ / Gettin’ his dick sucked in the same spot I’m sleepin’.”

Megan, whose real name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, didn't spit and tell, letting the person in question remain anonymous and offering a chance for her die-hard fans to investigate.

It didn't take long for fans to surmise that the no. 1 suspect is her ex-boyfriend, fellow rapper Pardison “Pardi” Fontaine. The two started seeing each other in 2020, but during the summer of 2023, things seemed to have fizzled out. Pardi even released a poem with a line stating that he was a "survivor but not a victim." Shortly after that, Stallion was seen with Belgian soccer player Romelu Lukaku at a wedding on Lake Como. While Megan hasn't confirmed exactly who she rapped about in "Cobra," the evidence seems to be laid out for us all.

While Megan has previously spoken about her depression and anxiety — which were themes that ran through her 2022 album, Traumatize, released after she was shot in the feet by Tory Lanez in 2021 — the explicit lyrics in "Cobra" were some of the most frank and vulnerable ones she's shared to date.

In April 2023, Megan shared an essay in Elle that described the last few years of her life as a low point, despite her commercial successes. She described the process of moving forward as a “rebirth.” The music video for “Cobra,” with its snake imagery and clips of Meg literally shedding layers of skin, seems to embrace that forward momentum and confidently ushers in a new era for the rapper.
