Dakota Johnson's New Blonde Hair is the Perfect Summer Shade

Dakota Johnson has spent the first half of the summer Darker as she filmed the 50 Shades of Grey sequel in Vancouver and France, but now that she’s back in L.A., she’s celebrated wrapping up the production with a new, lighter hair color.

Onscreen, Dakota’s character Anastasia Steele’s long chestnut brown strands are anything but the quintessentially cool hair the 26-year-old actress rocks off-screen. As soon as she went on hiatus, she updated her color with subtle, chunky blonde highlights mixed with dark undertones. Along with the new shade, Dakota also unclipped the extensions she wears for the role to return to her shoulder-grazing length that requires little more than air-drying for the perfect mix of summer hair laisse-faire and put-together polish.

The honey-colored highlights warm up the actress’ alabaster complexion, and will only get even better as Dakota spends the rest of summer’s hazy days under the L.A. sun.
