Today Rosario Dawson and Diego Luna announced the nominees for the 30th annual Film Independent Spirit Awards, and the competition is stiff! "As we celebrate 30 years of great independent film, this year's nominees are an astonishingly strong group of films and filmmakers which demonstrate the uniqueness of vision we honor at this show," says Film Independent president Josh Welsh.
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) received six nominations, the most of any movie, including best feature, best cinematography, best director, Michael Keaton for best male lead, Emma Stone for best supporting female, and Edward Norton for best supporting male. Boyhood, Nightcrawler, and Selma all came in second with five nominations each.
