Exactly How to Get Jennifer Lopez's Glowing Makeup from the AMAs

It's a well-established fact that no one wears that sexy bronze glow quite like Jennifer Lopez does. She's had the market cornered on that look since the late '90s—and last night at the American Music Awards, the combination of her smoky eye and radiant skin were every bit the signature look Jenny from the Block has been working for years.

"I really wanted to pay homage to 'the glow,' but create a more amped-up version," says her makeup artist Mary Phillips. "It's one of those landmark, quintessential J.Lo makeup pillars, and while the opening act was about all the hottest songs, we wanted to open with one of her hottest looks that her audience seems to love—rich nudes, bronze, and highlighting."

Phillips began with her complexion, applying a layer of the L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation ($13; ulta.com), then used the Magic Lumi Highlighting Concealer ($13; ulta.com) over any areas that needed extra love before setting her work with the Infallible Pro-Matte Powder ($13; ulta.com). She contoured her cheekbones using Lancome's Star Bronzer ($35; lancome-usa.com), and followed by highlighting with the L'Oreal Lumi Liquid Glow Highlighters in both Ice and Rose ($13 each; ulta.com) over Lopez's cheeks, temples, cheek bones, cupid's bow, browbone, and down the bridge of her nose.

Moving on to her eyes, Phillips used the L'Oreal La Riche Palette in Nude 1 in conjunction with the Nude 2 Palette ($20 each; ulta.com), and concentrated the darkest tones on the outer corners of her eyes. She then traced Lopez's upper lashes with the L'Oreal Superstar Liner ($10; ulta.com), then continued the smoky appearance on the lower lash line by blending both the Smog and Smoke shades of the Urban Decay 24/7 Liner ($20; sephora.com).

Once her brows were filled with the Armani Eye and Brow Maestro in Dark Brown ($34; sephora.com), Phillips applied a pair of faux lashes, and topped off the effect with the Voluminous Superstar Waterproof Mascara ($11; ulta.com). A tawny nude lip, created with the Colour Riche Lip Liner in Toffee to Be ($9; drugstore.com) and Colour Riche Lipstick in Eva's Nude ($8; ulta.com), tied each of the elements together, and a final veil of the Infallible Makeup Setting Spray ($17; ulta.com) ensured her glow remained intact through her high-octane performance.
