Is the Pixie Craze Over? These Celebrity Grow-Outs Say Maybe

While 2013 will forever go down in history as the year of the pixie, the latest hairstyles of once scissor-happy celebrities like Charlize Theron and Jennifer Lawrence suggest a lot more chic bobs and seriously trending lobs are on the way. Enter: the growing-out phase of 2014.

After channeling Twiggy’s iconic pixie just months ago at the Oscars, we were surprised to see Theron hosting last week’s Saturday Night Live with a significantly longer, chin-skimming bob. For someone who happily shaved her own head for a role in Fury Road in 2012, we weren't expecting the star to ditch the cropped craze so soon. “My hair was destroyed from heat damage, so I was glad to get rid of it,” she previously told InStyle. “I was also a new mom and just loved the idea of not having to style my hair every morning.” Judging from her glam waves, the mother of now 2-year-old Jackson has since had a change of heart.

Similarly, Lawrence, who dramatically lopped off her long strands in November, has already found a few stylish ways to work her now lengthy layers on the red carpet. For the premiere of X-Men: Days of Future Past for example, she opted for an edgy side-sweep with the back slicked into a mini updo—quite a departure from the ultra-short looks she wore throughout awards season.
