It didn't take long for Ricky Gervais to get the audience cringing at this year's Golden Globes. When he was announced as host, viewers knew that they would be in for a no-holds-barred attitude at emceeing, but his opening included a reference to the college admissions scandal and Felicity Huffman.
Gervais mentioned that many of the stars arrived in limousines and that he did, as well, though the license plate was what got his attention. "The license plate was made by Felicity Huffman," he said.
Huffman's husband, William H. Macy, wasn't spared. Gervais added that he felt sorry for the couple's daughter — and that her dad starred in Wild Hogs, so the college admissions scandal didn't really compare to the fallout from that cinematic gem
Twitter didn't let the joke or Tom Hanks's reaction go unnoticed. His cringe was 'capped immediately.
Huffman went to prison after pleading guilty for her involvement in the college admissions scandal. She served 11 days of a two-week sentence at a federal prison in Dublin, California.
