We wouldn't go so far as to say that shoes can make or break a runway show, but the right pair of boots, pumps, or sandals does have a major impact. Nowhere was this more clear than on the 2024 Fall/Winter runways during NYFW where designers like AKNVAS, Batsheva, and Christian Cowan opted for a fashion-forward approach that kept models' comfort — and safety — top of mind.
While AKNVAS, Cowan, and Batsheva committed to the aesthetics of their latest collections from head-to-tie, tying trending textures and adornments into their footwear, as well as their garments, they did so in collaboration with shoe brands Toms, Keds, and Stuart Weitzman. All three footwear brands are known for the comfort and wearability of their designs meaning that models in these three runway shoes were able to strut without a single stumble down the runway.
By combining footwear trends with comfortability, these three designers set a new trend for Fall 2024: collaborative shoes you can actually walk in — a win-win for fashionistas everywhere. Ahead, get a closer look at NYFW's biggest fall footwear trend: comfortable collabs that meld the magic of high fashion with supportive silhouettes that won't cramp your feet or your style.
AKNVAS x Stuart Weitzman
AKNVAS' Fall/Winter 2024 collection marks the second time the bold and experimental Danish label has teamed up with luxury footwear brand Stuart Weitzman for a runway shoe collab. Their first was over-the-top ruffled mules and thigh highs in pretty pastels. Our favorite shoes from their second collection were the very on-trend fuzzy block-heel pumps and gleaming, metallic slouchy boots, giving us the best of both worlds.
Christian Cowan x TOMS
At Christian Cowan, two types of trending TOMS shoes were spotted on the runway paired with Cowan's starry and spangled FW24 collection. Rosette-adorned casual slip-on and fuzzy statement flats featuring this season are deliciously trendy Yeti curly textures. "The flamboyance of the blossoming peony juxtaposed with raw and durable fabrics is so fresh. I love how these designs merge the magic of our runways with the ease of wearable and comfortable design," said Cowan.
Batsheva x Keds
Batsheva dipped into the Keds archives for point-toe platform sneakers accompanying its latest collection. The Batsheva x Keds Point, available to shop in April, is a classic lace-up sneaker that evokes the chic femininity of a point-toe pump in bold and playful prints and colorways. So why not level up casual fits and pair them with partywear, to bring some runway to the workday.
