Swifties easily take the cake when it comes to concocting fan theories — even when they're a bit of a stretch. From secret albums to that notorious red scarf, Swifties leave no Easter egg unturned. Not to mention, Taylor Swift herself seemingly enjoys dropping ammo for her die-hard standom.
Swift's new man, NFL star Travis Kelce, is not immune to the speculation (far from it, actually). Last month, Kelce (who famously shows up to game days in over-the-top 'fits) wore a pair of baggy brown velvet cargo pants. To the untrained eye, the crushed velvet trousers were just that: pants. But Swifties were quick to call out the slack's similarities to the brown velvet curtains that served as the backdrop in a TikTok series tied to Swift's Midnights album.
Now, Kelce's stylist, Danielle Salzedo, is addressing the notion that the Kansas City Chiefs star wore the campy cargo pants as an ode to his new girl. Sorry to disappoint, but Salzedo told Us Weekly that they picked the pants because they are "playful, polished and cozy, which Travis always does so well."
"I don’t have the answer to the [curtain theory]," she said. "However, when people authentically connect, they start to have those serendipitous coincidences." Ah, yes, so that would explain the 1989 birth year, the number 87, she's on the bleachers, and all that.
What Salzedo couldn't give us in pants confirmation, she made up for by spilling Kelce's shopping habits. Elsewhere in the interview, the stylist said, "He dedicates time to buying online, so he knows what’s out there and what’s new," she said. "He spends a significant amount of time on different retail and designer sites looking for new pieces and shopping."
"He’s bought pieces before we can even contact the brand to secure the items," she continued. "He plays a lot with monochromatic sets as well as oversized [looks]. He doesn’t shy away from mixing prints in unexpected ways." Wow, we love a man who pays attention to trends. Looks like a new fashion era for Swift could be on the horizon.
