Everything You Need to Know About Amazon’s October Prime Day, Which May Be Its Biggest Fall Sale Yet

Amazon Prime members, grab your wallets — another major sale event is coming this fall, and it could be even better than Prime Day. 

Last month, Amazon announced its first ever Prime Big Deal Days, which will take place on October 10 and 11. We can expect the two-day sale to include incredible sitewide deals, as well as exclusive discounts for Prime members.

In a LinkedIn post last month, Doug Herrington, CEO of Worldwide Amazon Stores, revealed the sale event will take place in 19 countries and feature “some of Amazon’s best deals of the season.” With the holidays approaching in just a few short months, this will be a great opportunity to get a head start on your gift shopping for less before popular products start to sell out. 

Last October, Amazon hosted a sale event called the Prime Early Access Sale, which included millions of fashion, beauty, home, and tech deals from brands like Calvin Klein, Laneige, Casper, Ninja, and Apple, according to a press release from the retailer. If the Prime Big Deal Days event is similar to last year’s fall sale, you can think of it as an early Black Friday sale with unbelievable discounts on the retailer’s most popular products.

When is Amazon Prime Big Deal Days? 

Prime Big Deal Days will take place on October 10 and 11. Last fall, the Prime Early Access Sale occurred on October 11 and 12, and this past summer, Prime Day took place on July 11 and 12.  

What is Amazon Prime Big Deal Days?

Prime Big Deal Days is a new exclusive shopping event for Prime members. While many of the best deals will likely be reserved for Prime members, there will also be discounts for all shoppers. If you’re not already a member and want to take advantage of the entire sale, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime. In addition to sale access, the membership will also afford you quick, two-day shipping, access to streaming services, and Whole Foods discounts. 

Amazon first launched Prime Day on July 15, 2015 to celebrate its 20th birthday and reward Prime members for their continued support. Since then, the event has grown into an annual two-day sale with discounts on top brands and products across the retailer’s entire marketplace. With the addition of the Prime Early Access Sale last year and Prime Big Deal Days this year, we now have even more chances to save on wishlist items in the fashion, beauty, home, and tech departments. 

How long does Prime Day last? 

In the past, Prime Day has lasted for two days, and it typically begins on a Tuesday morning and runs through the early hours on Thursday. Since Amazon’s birthday falls in July, the summer Prime Day event usually takes place in the second week of the month, except for Prime Day 2020, which was pushed to October. 

Last year, the Prime Early Access Sale also lasted for two days, taking place on October 11 and 12. Prime Big Deal Days is set to go live on October 10 and run through October 11. 

What goes on sale for Prime Day? 

Amazon’s Prime Day sale covers virtually every product category on the site, including beauty, fashion, home, kitchen, and tech. The event this past July was Amazon’s biggest Prime Day to date, per the retailer, with millions of deals available. Some of the best-selling products included the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm, Apple AirPods, and the Bissell Little Green Portable Deep Cleaner, which is already on sale ahead of the October event. 

During the Prime Early Access Sale last fall, tens of millions of Prime members shopped the deals, Amazon confirmed in a press release. Once again, Laneige beauty products and Apple gadgets reigned supreme, along with Casper pillows and Shark hair dryers.
