Superstar Anitta may have some friends in very high places — you don't nab multiple invites to the Met Gala without knowing the right people, after all. But she explained to InStyle that at one of those Met Galas (she's attended three altogether), she and fellow Brazilian Gisele Bündchen got closer than they'd ever been.
As the singer reminisced on her past looks from the event, including a pair of unforgettable ensembles from Jeremy Scott during his tenure at Moschino and a more recent masterpiece from Marc Jacobs, Anitta explained that at the 2023 event, she and Gisele got to spend quality time together and deepen their connection.
"This year, it was just me and Gisele from Brazil," she said of the guest list and her time spent with Bündchen. "We managed to spend more time together and get to know each other better and we spent the whole night, went to afters, became best friends."
"I already knew her," she clarified, just to make sure fans knew that she and the supermodel had rubbed shoulders in the past. "But not that well. And I think that when you see other Brazilians, you kind of connect."
Anitta continued, saying that sharing some sort of connection will bring people together, whether it's having the same background, working in the same industry, or having shared interests. However, being that she's in the spotlight, she added that she's always adding a bit of Brazilian spice to everything she does just so that people watching can feel connected to her, even if it's only for a tiny moment.
"Being a Brazilian is not easy," Anitta explained of finding common ground with people who share her background wherever she goes, whether it's the Met Gala or not. "Each place is like that. We always try to do our best to have a little Brazil-ness. We do what we can."
