Ashanti and Nelly Are Red Carpet Official — Thanks to Her Clutch

It's been a long time since 2009's "Body on Me," but it looks like Ashanti and Nelly are back on — just another example of the '00s coming back at the 2023 MTV VMAs. When Ashanti arrived on the pink carpet carrying a bag with her face and rapper Nelly's printed on it, it was a hint at the fact that the two are back together after years of are-they or aren't-they rumors.

"We're in a great space, everything is positive, we're having a lot of fun," she told People. The photo is 20 years old and the two officially dated back in 2013 and were rumored to have gotten back together after a steamy performance at Power 98.3 and 96.1's Under the Mistletoe concert. In 2014, Ashanti shared that Nelly was her first real love during an interview with Sway in the Morning.

As for another collab, Ashanti told People "maybe" when the publication asked about a possible team-up. Of course, her outfit, which included turtle-shaped pasties, was another way she stole the spotlight at this year's VMAs.

Nelly confirmed that the two were an item again today during the latest episode of Philo TV’s Boss Moves with Rasheeda and Kirk.

"Yeah, we cool again," he said, according to Complex. "We cool again. I think it surprised both of us, though. It wasn’t anything that was, like, I don’t think planned. I think we both was pretty much doing what we do. But sometimes being separate, you understand one another more."

He also spoke about his outlook on marriage, which may or may not be a hint of things to come between him and Ashanti.

“I think for me, because I’ve never been married, my goal is to die married,” he said. “It’s not to have been married.”
