Britney Spears just called out Justin Timberlake days after his Vegas performance of "Cry Me a River." Earlier this week, Timberlake took the stage at the opening of the new Fontainebleau hotel and told the crowd "no disrespect" before singing the 2002 hit about Spears — and now, the pop star has something to say.
On Friday, Britney shared a video of a leopard drinking water in between two pole-dancing men and one man standing upside-down against the wall on Instagram, writing in the caption: "Oh Jesus Christ, the stories … I could tell on the set of this one☝🏻 !!! There's always more to the story and that's not even half of it !!! It was shot in Arizona 120 degree heat 🥵 … 2 different version videos were shot for this song … most boys say 'OH I'M SHOOK!!!'"
She then seemingly shaded Timberlake, adding, "Psss I never mentioned how I beat him in basketball 🏀 and he would cry … no disrespect 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ !!!"
The former couple dated from 1999 to 2002, and shortly following their breakup, Timberlake released "Cry Me a River" with an accompanying music video that featured a Spears lookalike who cheated on him.
In Britney's new memoir The Woman in Me, she claimed they both were unfaithful to each other, but that Justin was able to manipulate the narrative with the speedy release of "Cry Me a River." “I felt there was no way at the time to tell my side of the story,” Spears wrote of the song. “I couldn’t explain, because I knew no one would take my side once Justin had convinced the world of his version. I don’t think Justin realized the power he had in shaming me. I don’t think he understands to this day.”
Spears wrote that she was "devastated" by the breakup and the fact that everyone looked at her as the “harlot who’d broken the heart of America’s golden boy.”
