Online bullies chose the wrong rapper. After critics accused Cardi B of looking "weird" without makeup, she responded with a video in classic Cardi style, brushing off the haters and letting her followers — and trolls — know that she's not perfect, but that she's completely comfortable in the way she looks.
The comments came after Cardi posted a makeup-free clip, though she says that critics were focusing on stills of her and not the video itself, which could be why the screencaps may have looked odd. Cardi explained that she doesn't take issue with people seeing her without full-on glam and that she's not afraid to show the real her, chapped lips and all.
"Y'all take pictures or video of me with no makeup while I'm in motion and be like, 'Oh, look at Cardi, she looks weird without no makeup.' This [is] me with no makeup, no filter," she said. "You know, you can see the little blemishes on my face, you can see my lips so chapped, I've been biting them all night. I woke up 20 minutes ago, didn't even brush my hair."
Cardi went on to say that she's in a great place, criticism and all. More importantly, she noted, she's happy.
"I just wanted to let y'all know that I feel comfortable in my skin, that I'm great, that I'm happy, my record is doing great, and just because you got so much hatred in your heart that when I do great y'all wanna put it down," she added. "You can't, I'ma stay on top with this face, with this natural face. Makeup or not, a bitch is doing good."
Back in January, Cardi opened up about trying to deal with her skin, asking her followers for tips on handling her dry skin and acne.
"This is my cheek ... It's been happening for like 3 months now ...Shit really is uncomfortable," she tweeted alongside a makeup-free close-up of her cheek. That time around, her fans rallied around her and recommended products to help — even estheticians and other celebrities offered some tips.
