Sarah Silverman Addressed Her Resurfaced Roast of Britney Spears

A video of Sarah Silverman roasting Britney Spears at the 2007 VMAs is receiving renewed scrutiny after the release of Framing Britney Spears.

"25 years old, and she's already accomplished everything she's ever going to accomplish in her life," she jokes in the clip. "She's a mother. It's a crazy. It's weird to think that just a few years ago on this very show she was this, like, sweet, innocent, little girl in slutty clothes riding around with a python." She continued, "Have you seen Britney's kids? Oh my God, they are the most adorable mistakes you will ever see!"

Silverman responded to the backlash around the video on Twitter saying, "I was known then 4 roasts. MTV asked me to mini-roast Britney after her big performance. While she was performing I was having diarrhea & going over my jokes. Had no idea she didn't kill. Unfortunate. Art changes over yrs as we know more & the world changes."

The comedian added in another tweet, "I wish I could delete it but I can't. But you are posting it for people to see. So r u trying to be kind or right?"

At the time, the roast didn't exactly land and Silverman ended up apologizing in an interview with Us Weekly.

"The joke that everyone was upset about — me calling the kids 'adorable mistakes' — was the most innocuous joke," she said. "It never occurred to me that would be deemed hurtful or over the line. I don't want to get into feuds with girls half my age. I'm in it to be funny and not for the drama. It's embarrassing."

On Tuesday, Spears seemingly broke her silence about the documentary.

"Each person has their story and their take on other people's stories !!!!" she wrote. "We all have so many different bright beautiful lives !!! Remember, no matter what we think we know about a person's life it is nothing compared to the actual person living behind the lens !!!!"
