2010
Williams blew everyone away at Cannes with her short, sideswept cut. "We went for a [pale sandy blond] because she is playing Marilyn Monroe and we wanted to find a shade along those tones," Marie Robinson, owner of the N.Y.C. salon responsible for the style, said. "This shade works well on fine hair as it gives it tons of body. Michelle loves it!"
2011
For the Oscars, Jeanine Lobell added color to Williams's face. "I didn't want her to look like a sea of white," she said. She smudged a sparkly pewter eye shadow on the top and bottom lashlines, tucked in a few faux lashes, and finished with a dusting of sparkly white shadow. Adding a drop of foundation to the star's pink lipstick helped make "the lips a part of the face, not a separate statement."
2012
Williams's new hair color was a natural evolution. "I don't even know that it was a conscious choice," the Golden Globes Best Actress nominee told us. "I kept cutting it shorter and shorter and as a result it got darker and darker. It naturally happened." Her colorist Marie Robinson seconds her story. "It's more golden and honey, but she was platinum for so long it looks pretty strawberry to everyone," Robinson told fashion.appleentcentre.com. "To show off the texture in her haircut, I used several different lowlights, with a golden blond at the roots and warm blond on the ends."
2012
"Michelle looks incredible with this Mia Farrow-inspired style. It's '60s combined with flapper flair, and it shows the glamour and versatility of short hair," said Chris McMillan, who used products by Wella Professionals to create the Golden Globes look. After blowdrying with mousse for volume, and dosing with a touch of shine serum, McMillan added a Forevermark for Fred Leighton diamond garland headband.
