I knew I wanted to incorporate a bold lip into my Old-Hollywood-inspired bridal look on my wedding day, so I took the months leading up as a trial period to test various shades and formulas. While I landed on a color for my big day, I hate to admit that I haven’t reached for that tube of lipstick since.
For years, I’ve found that most matte lipsticks don’t last long enough, make my lips feel dry, and emphasize any flakiness. So, when I got the chance to try out Charlotte Tilbury’s new line of Hollywood Beauty Icon Lipstick, I was excited to finally find a formula that was buildable, hydrating, and available in multiple hues that complimented my complexion so well. The celeb-worn brand has done it again.
Hollywood Beauty Icon Lipstick Matte Revolution in Cinematic Red
The new Hollywood Beauty Icon lipstick line includes five shades of pink in the brand’s K.I.S.S.I.N.G satin formula (Icon Baby, Candy Chic, Red Carpet Pink, Rose to Fame, and '90s Pink) and five shades of red in the brand’s award-winning hydrating matte finish (Mark of a Kiss, Fame Flame, Hollywood Vixen, Pizzazz, and Cinematic Red), which were my personal favorites.
While everyone will have a unique experience when selecting the best shade for them, I favored the cherry-red hue of the Cinematic Red, giving my pout the perfect deep, rich natural color that I love and had yet to find from other brands.

While I typically layer any matte lipstick with a balm or gloss, I didn’t have to with these. The hydrating formula actually lived up to its name, leaving me with a shiny, flake-free pout that lasted for hours. While it eventually faded after a night of talking, eating, and drinking, my lips still had a pretty hue that never wore off.
To pick a shade that will work best for you, Charlotte Tilbury’s site has a helpful lipstick finder that guides you to the right color based on your skin tone, undertones, hair color, and eye color. Plus, the brand’s launch also includes five accompanying lip liners in shades inspired by the Hollywood Icon line.
