If you're ready to bid farewell to January, you're not alone. From life coming in hot after the holidays to the all-too-real phenomenon of the January blues, it's been a long month for many. But as usual, we leaned on our favorite beauty products to stay grounded and supply pockets of joy.
From the Valentine's Day-ready fragrance I can't get enough of to the treatments giving our chapped lips some much-needed TLC, you can shop the products we loved throughout the month below.
Ursa Major Alpine Rich Cream
Since the fall, I’ve reached for Ursa Major’s Alpine Rich Cream to kick up moisture and keep my skin barrier happy amid the colder months. It seals in everything that came before it, while its star ingredients (brightening skullcap, strengthening ceramides, and firming red maple bark) work to keep my complexion clear, smooth, and plump. Plus, with its velvety texture and satin finish, it’s agreeable with my makeup and SPF, even as I layer throughout the day. While a little goes a long way, I already need to restock it—as my fiancé won’t stop stealing from my jar! — Lauren Valenti, beauty director
Narcisco Rodriguez All of Me
I'm not sure what it is — maybe its the fact that Valentine's Day is around the corneror maybe that it's that I'm looking for any way to sweeten this dark and dreary month. Either way, I' can't stop sniffing this romantic rosy scent from Narcisco Rodriguez. The star of the formula, of course, is rose, but it's the geranium that does it for me. My mom loves perfumes with geranium, so anytime I spritz it, it's like I'm with her. It also has hints of bourbon and white musk to ground the scent and keep it from being too flowery. — Kara Jillian Brown, beauty editor
Ogee Sculpted Complexion Stick
I have textbook combination skin; dry overall with oily spots around my nose and chin. This has made finding the right everyday makeup challenging to say the least. I've definitely landed on one or two over the years that I can rely on, but have never truly felt like I found the one...until now. I had heard of Ogee and made a mental note to give it a try, and how glad I am that I did. Ogee's Sculpted Complexion Stick has become my once-and-for-all product. Not only does it blend flawlessly but it also lasts all day. The first time I wore it, a family member even noticed a difference and mentioned I had a new glow. I'll never go another day without it! — Samantha Brash, director of content strategy
Poppy King Original Sin Lipstick
All hail the return of lipstick queen Poppy King! I'm so thrilled that after a years-long hiatus, her lipsticks are back and as stunning as ever, from their work-of-art bullets to rich, creamy pigments. My favorite? Original Sin is a gorgeous universal true red that boasts shimmering flecks for a luminous finish. It's almost too beautiful to use, but you'll get there. I promise! — L.V.
Riki Loves Riki Sweetheart Mirror
I recently made the switch from a Samsung Galaxy to an iPhone. And while I'm generally thrilled with the leap, iPhone's front camera leaves a lot to be desired. To be frank, I was prettier on my Galaxy. And now I have to use the back camera of my iPhone for selfies like it's 2008. Luckily, this little cutie from Riki Loves Riki allows me to use the back camera for selfies while getting a gorgeous wash of light. — K.J.B.
Isla The Elixir Toner
Over the past few years, bathing my face in Isla Beauty’s cult-favorite elixir has been one of the most delightful steps of my skin-care routine. I simply love reaching for the sleek golden bottle and tapping the light, refreshingly scented essence into my skin with my fingertips. My face just drinks it up, instantly becoming dewier and plumper. At the same time, my skin looks consistently clearer and more vibrant thanks to all of its barrier–strengthening ingredients, like glycerin, wild berry complex, and botanical extracts. — L.V.
Chanel Ombre Première Libre
I love a deep, saturated smoky eye—and appreciate a formula that makes applying it a cinch. Chanel's Ombre Première Libre loose eyeshadows are light and powdery yet supply an impressive amount of rich pigment. I love how the sponge-tip applicator makes it easy to swipe on wherever. Plus, there's a gorgeous array of burnished hues, like copper and deep violet, which Riley Keough wore at the Emmys for a retro '60s eye look à la her grandmother Priscilla Presley. — L.V.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
So original, I know. But really, truly, if you haven’t joined the cult of Laneige’s Lip Sleeping mask, I implore you to. And if you don’t trust me, trust Jenna Lyons, who can’t get enough. The thick, velvety formula works miracles overnight (thanks to special berry fruit complex and shea and murumuru seed butters) and can be worn as a sheer, ever-so-slighty-tinted pink gloss. As Lyons says, “It’s like putting nail polish on your mouth!”— L.V.
Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Color Corrector
My biggest skin concern is hyperpigmentation. Anytime I get a pimple I'm left with a stubborn dark spot that hangs around for months. I hadn't used a color corrector in nearly half a decade, but this new Huda Beauty launch reignited my relationship with them. The brand expanded the shade range for this product and one of the new additions is Lychee, a medium pink developed for deep tan to rich skin tones. I've only used orange color correctors in the past, but I'm loving the way this pinky shade looks. It correct my dark spots while adding a bit of brightness. — K.J.B.
Ghlee Lip Mask
This winter, my lips haven't gotten as dry as they usually do and I credit this change to my Ghlee Lip Mask. It's a rich and silky mask that's made from ghee, a form of clarified butter that has its roots in South Asia. I keep a jar on my vanity and whenever I'm home, I reach for it in lieu of lip balm because I know it will make my pout pillowy soft in an instant. Plus, I wear a coat of it under all of my lipsticks and won't go to bed without wearing a thick layer. — K.J.B.
Yolaine Mousse de Rouge
Lately, I've been loving a monochromatic beauty look. And the Yolaine Mousse de Rouge makes that so easy. The formula was inspired by the texture of chocolate mousse so it has a gorgeous velvety texture. Plus, it comes in 10 yummy shades and the color payoff is insanely pigmented. And it because it dries down matte, it doesn't budge. I love using it on my lids, cheeks, and lips and finishing off the look with a swipe of clear gloss on my pout. — K.J.B.
Loeffler Randall Anika Vanilla Moiré Bow Clip
In case you haven't heard, hair bows were everywhere during Couture Week in Paris. Since I'm a lazy girlie, hopping on the trend is a bit of a learning curve. This sweet bow clip from Loeffler Randall makes it too easy—plus it's the perfect pick for anyone who loves a good claw clip! — S.B.
