Of all the unofficial holidays — Singles Day, National Boyfriend/Girlfriend Day — Galentine’s Day is my favorite because our besties deserve some celebration, too. While my recipe for a perfect girl’s night-in typically involves take out, Netflix, and sparkling rose, Galentine’s Day is an excuse to take things up a notch with gifts I know my besties will love.
This year, there are a number of gifts I’m considering grabbing, including elevated versions of your favorite closet and beauty staples, discounted designer accessories, and those non-necessities that will simply level up your life. So in case you’re in need of some Galentine’s Day gifting-inspo, these are the eight items I can’t wait to give to my friends:
- Mario Badescu Rose Hand Cream, $8; amazon.com
- Merit Shade Slick Tinted Lip Oil, $24; meritbeauty.com
- Skims Cotton Rib Tank Top, $38; nordstrom.com and skims.com
- The Outset Botanical Repair Rescue Balm, $38; nordstrom.com
- Coach Signature Cherry Heart Earrings Set, $35 (Originally $118); coachoutlet.com
- Baggu Set of 3 Reusable Bags, $42; amazon.com and baggu.com
- Gisou Mini Honey Infused Hair Perfume, $44; amazon.com
- Saint Jane Beauty Deep Sleep Bath Salts, $58; saintjanebeauty.com and sephora.com
The Outset Botanical Repair Rescue Balm
The Outset’s Botanical Repair Rescue Balm is an elevated take on the classic do-it-all salve that I think everyone needs. Formulated with a botanical alternative to hyaluronic acid and nourishing oils, the hydrating balm is beautifully packaged, shockingly versatile, and highly effective. I’ve relied on this vegan balm all winter to rescue my dry, chapped lips, but it’s also saved my cuticles, repaired my cracked knuckles, and added a nourishing glow to my skin when applied on my face’s high points.
Gisou Mini Honey-Infused Hair Perfume
It can be kind of difficult to gift the right hair product: What works for your texture, color, and concerns might not be what works for your bestie’s. Something almost everyone can agree on? Nice-smelling hair, which is where Gisou’s hair perfume comes in. This perfume softens hair with a honey and argan oil-formulation and freshens it through a light floral scent.
Since a hair perfume is one of those little luxuries many people wouldn’t get themselves, I consider this a perfect gift. And as someone who now uses this one from Gisou consistently, I can vouch that it’s a major life-elevator. I rely on it in between washes to keep my hair smelling clean (even when it’s not) and often receive compliments on the scent. One shopper wrote that the “sweet honey” scent “isn’t overpowering” and “doesn't leave [their] hair feeling like there's anything it.” And according to someone else, “Whenever I wear the hair perfume I'm like the pied piper... people follow.”
Baggu Set of 3 Reusable Bags
Baggu’s packable, reusable tote bags are the practical gift anyone would be happy to receive. The nylon bags are machine washable, fold down into a tiny pouch so that you can keep them in even your smallest purse (because sometimes walks turn into unexpected shopping trips), and are, of course, cute. While there are a number of different designs available at Baggu, this set of three is perfect if you’re buying for more than one friend.
Skims Cotton Rib Tank Top
Skim’s newest Valentine’s Day collection — which is filled with festive pajamas and loungewear sets — is serving major sleepover energy. And for my girlfriends, I’m loving this limited edition, bubble-gum pink version of the brand’s popular cotton rib tank top (a style a number of them already love). This cropped tank, which shoppers call “super flattering and comfy,” has become a staple of the brand and a favorite at InStyle. “The ribbed material is very comfortable and washes well; it actually gets softer after each wash,” said our Senior Commerce Editor.
I’m celebrating my friends in February with gifts I know they’ll love, from editor-approved beauty to shopper staples. Find more of my Galentine’s Day obsessions below, including the bath salts that are so relaxing they’re practically therapeutic, 65 percent-off Coach earrings, and a lip oil that’s as beautiful as it is hydrating.
