But with a modern twist.

There's iconic hair, and then there's "The Rachel." At the 2024 Golden Globes, Jennifer Aniston brought back the cut she made world-famous in 1995 as Rachel Green on Friends. However, this time around, the Morning Show star put a cooler, more modern twist on the layered, face-framing bob above her strapless black gown.

Compared to the shoulder-length '90s version, Aniston's new iteration is more of a lob, sweeping past her collarbones with a side part and cascade of sleeker, more piecey layers. The new "Rachel" is no doubt the handiwork of her longtime hairstylist Chris McMillan, who cut the '90s original inspired by the era's boyish pixie-sporting supermodels and surfers in his hometown of Manhattan Beach, California.

And that shine? We can only assume the next-level gleam comes courtesy of her hair-care line, LolaVie; perhaps a sweep of the Lightweight hair oil through the mids and ends a touch of hydration and luster.

While Aniston has playfully ridiculed "The Rachel" in the past, there's no denying its mass appeal and cultural significance. Widely considered one of the most popular haircuts of all time, the look created a sensation in the mid-'90s, inspiring legions of women to run to the salon, magazine-cut-out-of-Aniston in hand, to get a swooped, C-shaped crop of their own, complete with chunky blonde highlights, of course.

Given the mania around "The Rachel" the first time, there's no doubt Aniston's new chop will inspire another thousand copycats, though perhaps those of an entirely new generation. After all, #RachelHaircut has already garnered over 8 million views on TikTok, and Aniston's fresh take—choppier and more lived-in—is sure to get the Gen Z tick of approval.
