Exes and current co-parents Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner may be reuniting for more than just school pick-up and drop-off. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Garner could be starring in the upcoming Affleck-directed crime thriller Animal.
Garner is currently in negotiations but would star opposite Affleck's longtime business partner Matt Damon in the Netflix flick. Affleck and Damon's production company, Artists Equity, will also produce the film alongside Dani Bernfeld, as well as Brad Weston and Collin Creighton from MakeReady. If the deal with Garner goes accordingly, they could start filming in March.
The movie, which was written by Connor McIntyre and revised by Billy Ray, follows Damon as a mayoral candidate and his wife (who would be played by Garner) who have to "get their hands dirty" when their son gets kidnapped, per THR.
Affleck and Garner were married for 13 years and share three kids together: Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel. The pair split in 2018 but have remained friends and cordial co-parents over the years. Prior to tying the knot, the two starred in several films together, including Pearl Harbor, Daredevil, and the spin-off Elektra. This would mark Affleck's first time directing Garner.
Following their divorce, Affleck reunited with Jennifer Lopez 17 years after their initial split in 2004. The two wed in 2022 in a Vegas chapel wedding, followed by a bigger ceremony a couple of months later. The film news comes on the same day as the release of Lopez's new visual album This Is Me...Now: A Love Story, which depicts her journey to finding love. Affleck, among many other stars, makes a cameo in the hour-long film. This Is Me...Now: A Love Story is available to stream now on Prime Video.
