Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo’s ‘13 Going on 30’ Reunion Was Totally Fabuloso

The stars of 13 Going on 30 came together for the best reason: To celebrate one of their own. Today, Jennifer Garner spoke at Mark Ruffalo's Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremony and, of course, she had the sweetest message for her former co-star. The two famously appeared together in the 2004 rom-com, which has since become a favorite among connoisseurs of the genre and anyone who loves a good dance breakdown. At the ceremony, Garner and Ruffalo even reenacted the "Thriller" dance sequence for a few seconds, giving fans of the film exactly what they wanted.

During her speech, Garner mentioned that Ruffalo's character, Matt, became the blueprint for rom-com leading men after the role and name-checked a few of the stars that have headlined a few major films that may have borrowed from his vibe.

"How lucky are we to have been in a movie that kids are still dressing up as for Halloween?" Garner said during her time at the podium. "I wonder if my colleagues Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth [Paltrow], Keira Knightley — I wonder if they would agree that Mark owes this rom-com success to the scruffy hair, the untucked, cute button-down, both of which became the norm for cute guys everywhere for the next 20 years."

Garner continued, giving a few tidbits about Ruffalo's cold feet and his aversion to dancing.

"I wonder if these esteemed ladies enjoyed Mark's anxiety as much as I did?" she added. "I wonder if he tried to drop out of their films like he did out of ours after the first rehearsal of the 'Thriller' dance, where Mark went from kind of shocked that we actually had to do this to antsy to deathly quiet to 'Bro, this is not for me.'"

"To work with you, Mark, is to love you, I don't care what anyone says," she finished, adding that while Ruffalo may have plenty of blockbusters to his name and is a frontrunner this awards season, she'll remember him for being a great guy before being a great actor. "You allow yourself to be fully known by your colleagues, by the audience, by the world. Your work on Poor Things deserves all of the awards, all of them. But the real success is in how thrilled and delighted your colleagues are to have the opportunity to lift you up and celebrate you. Every time your name is called, Hollywood takes a deep collective breath and says, 'Okay, the good and right thing has happened.'"

Garner was joined by Ruffalo's colleagues Kevin Feige, Barry Keoghan, and Lili Reinhart, as well as director Joss Whedon. Proving Garner's point, Ruffalo was in attendance for his co-star Willem Dafoe's Walk of Fame star ceremony back in in January.
