Jennifer Lopez is set to release her highly anticipated studio album, This Is Me ... Now, later this week (along with an accompanying film). It seems like the never-aging multi-hyphenate is just getting started, but she's already teasing that this could be her last album, ever. Why, might you ask?
"The truth is, I don't even know if I'll ever make another album after this. It's such the quintessential J.Lo project," Lopez told Entertainment Tonight at the One&Only One Za'abeel Grand Opening in Dubai over the weekend. "This might be my last album, ever. I feel like it's the end of an era for me and the beginning of a new one."
"I would never say never, but right now I feel like I really put my heart and soul into this, and I'm very excited," she continued. "And it definitely took a lot out of me."
The album, which is the follow up to her 2002 album, This Is Me ... Then, will drop on Feb. 16, along with a Prime Video film titled This Is Me ... Now: A Love Story. The movie, featuring fantastical, genre-bending scenes that metaphorically tell the story of her journey with love, will presumably culminate into her happy ending with now-husband Ben Affleck. She added that the project was inspired their reconciliation.
"I mean, it's very personal project, because it is very inspired by my own journey," she said. "Although, it is this journey of the hopeless romantic and what that means and the life of what that can be like."
In a new interview with Variety, she also predicted that because she's now married to Affleck, she may no longer feel the need to write about her quest for love. “I’ve been on this journey, and I’ve been trying to figure it out,” she explained. "Now I feel like because Ben and I have rediscovered each other — and now that we’re married — I have something to offer. This is the defining piece of work that’s going to close that chapter so I can move on to the next part of my life.”
“Now I’m in a healthier, more loving, good relationship. I’ve gotten to this place where I feel more whole, to be more present in a relationship," she continued. "But what is that like? I get to live that, and that’s even more challenging than the last 20 years.”
This Is Me ... Now and Prime Video's This Is Me ... Now: A Love Story will be available to stream on Feb. 16.
