John Stamos Says He Reconnected With the Olsen Twins After Bob Saget's Death

John Stamos is opening up about the status of his relationship with former Full House castmates Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

In an interview for InStyle's "This Guy" series, the actor revealed that while there was "a bit of distance" between them physically (he is based in LA; Mary-Kate and Ashley are in New York), he ended up reconnecting with them following their co-star Bob Saget's death in early 2022. 

"When Bob died, they came back. Oh my god. It was so beautiful," he said of their reunion. "They said things to us that meant so much to all of us. That they loved their childhood. That we were such a big part of their lives, and that they are who they are because of their upbringing on the show."

He continued, "Bob was the glue to all of us. Even the year and a half that he's been gone, we [the Full House cast] haven't gotten together as much."

After Bob's sudden death, Mary-Kate and Ashley — who shared the role of Michelle Tanner on Full House from 1987 to 1995 — released a sweet statement in honor of the comedian. "Bob was the most loving, compassionate, and generous man. We are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us but know that he will continue to be by our side to guide us as gracefully as he always has," the twins said. They added, "We are thinking of his daughters, wife, and family and are sending our condolences."

Earlier this year, Stamos admitted that he was "angry" when Mary-Kate and Ashley didn't want to join the cast of Fuller House. "When I did Fuller House, they didn’t wanna come back. And I was angry for a minute," Stamos explained during an interview on the And That's What You REALLY Missed podcast in May. "And that got out.” But after Saget's passing, the trio made up. "They came over to my house. They brought a pork chop and sage. I don’t know why, but thank you? It was a frozen pork chop, so that was really nice," he continued. "So we stayed very close."
