How Meghan Markle's Royal Wedding Dress Compares to the One from Her First Marriage

On May 19, Meghan Markle took our breath away in a Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy gown at her royal wedding to Prince Harry. According to Kensington Palace, the bride chose Givenchy's recently-appointed Artistic Director "for her timeless and elegant aesthetic, impeccable tailoring, and relaxed demeanor."

Markle and Keller met in early 2018, and the design features double-bonded silk with an open bateau neckline, a triple silk organza underskirt, three-quarter sleeve, and lace-adorned veil. She paired it all with Queen Mary's Filigree Tiara.

While it’s stunning, it isn’t the only wedding dress Markle has worn. The newly-married duchess was previously married to producer Trevor Engelson from 2011 to 2013. The couple wed on the beach in Jamaica, so Markle’s wedding (and wedding dress) were far more casual the first time around.

In her 2011 wedding, Markle donned a strapless bohemian-looking gown with a slight V-neckline and a bejeweled belt. The bride wore her hair down in loose waves, and kept her makeup minimal.

Of course, Markle looks gorgeous in anything, but her first wedding dress is a far cry from the Givenchy gown she wore to walk down the aisle to Prince Harry, a dress truly fit for a princess.
