Amal Clooney, renowned international human rights lawyer, published author, fashion icon, and wife to some actor, is celebrating the publication of her and Philippa Webb’s criminal law text The Right to a Fair Trial in International Law.
During an intimidatingly large Zoom call for the International Bar Association, Clooney gave a special shoutout to said actor husband, Joe Clooney. Sorry, I think it’s actually George? Jeff? Jim?
“I know this process seemed interminable to him," she said, "especially since I was always so sure that this was 'the very last drafting session,' over and over again!"
"The book drafting took place at all his filming locations,” Clooney continued, “and throughout the process, he was not only patient but so wonderfully encouraging and inspiring. I really did not need another example of how amazing he is but this process provided one.”
Clooney went out with a joke.
"I think he's watching this downstairs in the kitchen, so I just want to say 'thank you,'" she said to her husband of six years. "For my side, I can promise for the sake of our marriage that I will never do this again!"
Their marriage’s next test? The actor's ability to power through a 1,008-page law text. Godspeed, George.
