More than a week after undergoing abdominal surgery, Kate Middleton was paid a special visit by her father-in-law King Charles. According to People, the monarch checked in on the Princess of Wales on Friday, ahead of his own procedure at the same hospital for an enlarged prostate.
This morning, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Charles had been admitted to the London Clinic for his "scheduled treatment" and he was photographed arriving earlier with his wife, Queen Camilla.
Unlike Kate, who kept her surgery a secret, Charles shared his diagnosis with the public ahead of his treatment to encourage other men to get checked. "In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate," Buckingham Palace previously announced in a statement. "His Majesty's condition is benign, and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure." The Palace also noted that Charles's public engagements will be "postponed for a short period of time."
Kate, meanwhile, won't be resuming her royal duties until after Easter. She will remain in the hospital for a few more days before going home to continue her recovery. "The Princess of Wales wishes to apologize to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements," the Palace explained, adding: "She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible."
