Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Will Return to NYC to Host Archewell's First In-Person Event

The trip will mark their first visit to the city since being involved in a "near catastrophic car chase" back in May.

While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s schedules may have been chock-full of travel throughout the past month (see: a week-long stay in Germany for the 2023 Invictus Games and a pitstop in Portugal for a royal family visit), it seems they don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

According to People, the couple is soon set to make their return to New York City in honor of World Mental Health Day on Oct. 10, where they will also host Archewell Foundation’s first-ever in-person event: The Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit: Mental Wellness in a Digital Age. The publication notes that the summit will “provide a platform for parents navigating mental health challenges in the digital age” and aims to “give voice to families who are passionate about building a safer online world for children and teens.”

Not only will the Duke and Duchess of Sussex be in attendance at the event, but they’ve also played a key role in planning the summit behind the scenes. “The families have been engaged with The Archewell Foundation for the past year, bolstering community and driving towards solutions,” a spokesperson for the couple told People. “Together, they are united in their mission to share personal experiences, data, and research to ensure the same does not happen to other families.”

The event will serve as Meghan and Harry’s first visit to NYC since attending the Ms. Foundation Women of Vision Awards back in May, where they were involved in a “near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi” when exiting the event.

“This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians, and two NYPD officers,” a statement from the couple’s spokesperson read at the time. “Dissemination of these images, given the ways in which they were obtained, encourages a highly intrusive practice that is dangerous to all involved.”
