Everyone deserves a vacation — even royals. And after a busy couple of weeks in Germany at the 2023 Invictus Games, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are enjoying some R&R in Portugal.
According to the Portuguese publication Nova Gente, the Sussexes took a detour on their way back to California for some well-deserved time off. People suggests that while they were over that way, the two probably visited Harry's cousin Princess Eugenie, who has been splitting her time between the U.K. and Portugal since her husband, Jacks Brooksbanks, landed a new job in the country. The couple also recently welcomed their second son Ernest back in June. They already share 2-year-old son August.
Despite taking a step back from the royal family, Harry and Meghan have remained close to Eugenie and her sister Princess Beatrice. "They're still the best of friends and talk constantly," a source recently told People.
Before jetting off to Portugal, Harry and Meghan attended the sixth Invictus Games, which were founded by Harry in 2014. Harry opened the festivities on Sept. 9. He was eventually joined by Meghan who put her fashion on display at the different sporting events, from a monochromatic romper and blazer moment to her striking teal peekaboo lace closing ceremony dress. During the final night, Harry delivered a powerful and touching speech to the participating veterans.
“We’ve all witnessed the true impact sport has had on your recovery,” he said at the time. “But you will never truly know the impact your actions this week have had on millions of people around the world. You have opened people’s hearts through your vulnerability, through your resilience, and your sheer abilities. You have shown us that joy can emerge from struggle.”
