We're used to seeing superstar singer Olivia Rodrigo in vintage (she's got an obsession with Betsey Johnson that we 100% cosign), but it's not often we see her with her hair pulled up into a sky-high ponytail. Last night, at the 2024 Governors Awards, Rodrigo kept with her usual M.O. of wearing a vintage gown, opting for throwback Yves Saint Laurent from TheRealList Fashion, but she paired the sleek and stealthy gown with an equally polished waist-skimming pony.
At the event, which included appearances from Eva Longoria and Margot Robbie, Rodrigo accessorized her column gown, which featured a sweetheart neckline, with shimmering geometric door knocker-style earrings and a swipe of bold red lipstick. Like the dress, she kept her look minimal, opting to skip a necklace and adding just one shimmering ring.
During her time on the carpet, Rodrigo teased a return to acting. Speaking with Variety, she said, “I love movies. I love telling stories. I really want to do a coming-of-age thing, maybe before I’m actually of age. Maybe I am of age already.”
Of course, fans will remember that Rodrigo first came into the zeitgeist by appearing in Disney+'s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series before evolving into the Grammy-winning singer and songwriter we all know and love.
“I just love telling stories, whether that be in a song or movie," she said. "That’s really something that really excites me.”
But she's not turning her back on music anytime soon, so anyone who has GUTS on repeat can rest easy. Rodrigo shared that she'd love to collaborate with singer-songwriter Noah Kahan, who is up for the same category that Olivia won in 2022: Best New Artist at the Grammys.
“I think he’s so great, and he’s very inspiring. One of these days,” she said.
