Prince Harry Won't Be Watching the Final Season of 'The Crown,' Despite Reports to the Contrary

While thousands of fans have been not-so-patiently waiting for The Crown’s final season to finally hit Netflix today, Nov. 16 (with part 2 set to debut on the platform Dec. 14), there’s reportedly one former fan of the show who won’t be tuning in this time around: Prince Harry.

Despite previous reports from The Daily Telegraph that Harry was planning on watching the latest installment — which will detail the tragic death of his mother, the late Princess Diana — a source close to the royal has since set the record straight on the matter.

According to Deadline, a source “close to the Duke of Sussex” told the outlet that “he would not stream the final season of Peter Morgan’s show due to the ‘sensitive nature’ of its content.”

Deadline also noted that while Prince Harry has no “ill feelings toward The Crown’s creators or Netflix about the direction of Season 6,” he was also “not consulted over the show and had no advanced sight of episodes.”

While Harry has yet to publicly confirm whether or not he’ll be watching the series, he has been open about watching The Crown in the past. In 2021, he touched on the matter during an appearance on The Late Late Show, where he called out the show for making it seem like he and his fellow royals put “duty and service above family and everything else.”

Harry added, “I am way more comfortable with The Crown than I am seeing stories written about my family or my wife. That [The Crown] is obviously fiction, take it how you will.”
