Selena Gomez Revived the High-Low Dress Trend at the 2024 Golden Globes

Selena Gomez may have taken a night off from solving murders with Steve Martin and Martin Short to attend the 2024 Golden Globes, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t absolutely kill her red-carpet ensemble.

On Sunday night, the actress arrived at the Beverly Hilton Hotel wearing a party-red red dress from Giorgio Armani. The shimmering scarlet look included a high neck and cut-out top that combined pleated details and black crystal embroidered flowers. According to the brand, the dress featured a "matching asymmetrical full skirt" with a black waistband, but we all remember the distinctive silhouette as a high-low throwback. Gomez completed the look with coordinating metallic heels, a slicked-back high bun, and sparkling diamond jewelry.

Gomez is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical tonight for her role of Mabel Mora in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building for the second year in a row. While the actress may not have walked away with the honor in 2023, she opened up about how much the nod meant to her when talking to beauty influencer Mikayla Nogueira last year.

“Oh my god, I'm so excited," she said when asked how she felt about the nomination. "I didn't think I was gonna get — actually, I know I wasn't gonna get nominated, or I thought. But I'm happy.”

Only Murders in the Building is also in the running for Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical, Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical for both Martin and Short and Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series for Meryl Streep.
