A striking outfit is about so much more than clothes — it's about pulling together a ~lewk~ complete with beauty elements, like nail art, that add that finishing touch. This season at New York Fashion Week, designers have been making the most of small yet mighty canvases, sending models down the runway with dazzling nail art.

From chrome tips to a fresh "orange ice" shade, there's already an array of emerging 2024 nail trends sure to be big next spring. Below, get a sneak peek at the five we can't get enough of.

Metallic Nails

Kiss Nails

Last year, high-wattage sheen got big when Hailey Bieber debuted what was soon dubbed the "glazed donut" look, a neutral shade with glossy shimmer. Now, the looks are making even more of a statement. For proof, look no further than the metallic tips nail artist Gina Edwards created for the Prabal Gurung show using the Kiss Bare But Better press-ons.

"Metallic is going to be huge again in the spring," says Edwards. "Chrome nail pigment powders are fantastic, and they have all different different colors to appeal to all different senses. You can go from simple shear to more dramatic colors, like gold, red, or green."

Micro French

French tips will never go out of style, but it's a thrill to see modern takes on the traditional look, like the micro French tips nail artist Julie Kandalec crafted for Staud using Mia Secret's Gelux Polish in the shade Maya Blue.

"Micro French tips are the minimalist’s way to add a bit of color or visual interest to any length nail — and in any color, too," says Kandalec. "Instead of the thin line being at the tip, we put it one-third of the way down the nail for a twist on the on-trend design."

Crystal Decals

Often, crystal decals are used to up the ante on a bold look — so we love the way nail artist Holly Falcone used rhinestones on a sheer, shimmery base (Kiki World Pretty Nail Graffiti in the shade Pearl) for a simple, yet stunning look. Falcone says the ethereal look was inspired by mermaids. Rest assured: Mermaidcore isn't going anywhere!

Orange Ice

Many spring looks have been accented with fresh pastels, but one shade, in particular, keeps popping up — and we've dubbed it "orange ice." It's a bright tangerine hue that evokes eating a ripe cantaloupe or a chilled creamsicle. Out of the seven Addiction Tokyo shades nail artist Naomi Yasuda used for Mansur Gavriel, she says her favorite shade was Hoi An, this warm, yellowish-orange.

Geometric Shapes

Essie

Squiggles and waves have been a staple in nail design over the past few years, and now, we're seeing a return to geometric shapes. Kandalec created this graphic pattern look for Kate Spade using Essie's Expressie in the shade Now or Never.
