While 2023 brought us many things (Barbie! Celebrity divorces! Beefcakes!), it may — most notably — go down in history as the year Taylor Swift finally fulfilled her “You Belong With Me” prophecy of being on the bleachers. But although the singer was present at more than a few of her NFL star beau Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs games in the latter half of last year, the footballer reportedly won’t be accompanying Swift to the 2024 Golden Globes on Sunday, despite being in the exact same city at the exact same time — and here’s why.
According to multiple sources for Page Six, Kelce will not walk the red carpet with Swift — who’s nominated during Sunday’s ceremony in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category for her Eras Tour concert film — nor will he attend any Golden Globes after-parties with the songstress. The reasoning? He’s got to get his head in the game.
Unfortunately (for those of us who were hoping for a Traylor red carpet hard launch, at least), Travis will likely be absent from Sunday’s festivities due to the Chiefs’ matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, which takes place at 1:25 p.m. PT the same day. Sources for Page Six also added that the tight end will reportedly “fly back to Kansas City with his team right after the game” as opposed to meeting up with Swift later that evening.
But while the scheduling conflict may mean that we won’t see any stellar Travis Kelce fashion on the Golden Globes red carpet this year, that doesn’t mean that we should totally rule out a Taylor appearance in SoFi Stadium’s stands. The singer has long proven her commitment to supporting her man (see: trips to New Jersey, Wisconsin, and Massachusetts) — and if anyone has the resources to make it all work, it’s Taylor Swift.
