Dressing for the holidays doesn't have to be all about sequins, sparkles, and ugly Christmas sweaters. Just look at Amal Clooney, who rang in the season with style at a special screening of her husband George's new movie The Boys In The Boat in London on Sunday.
For the occasion, Clooney looked festive without being over-the-top while sporting a matching black velvet two-piece set on the red carpet. On top, she wore a one-shouldered corset with a sculpturally sweeping neckline and cutouts on each hip that showed a tasteful sliver of skin, and on bottom, a pair of wide-leg trousers with a gold button closure at the waist and striped satin detailing down the sides. She accessorized with black suede pointed-toe pumps and minimal diamond-and-gold jewelry, and added even more of a festive touch with a bright red lip and crimson-painted nails. Meanwhile, her long caramel-highlighted hair was worn down in voluminous waves with a side part.
George, for his part, stuck to his usual style M.O. and wore a dark charcoal gray suit with a white button-down and black dress shoes.
The couple shared a cute moment together on the red carpet. As it started to rain, George held an umbrella over Amal to make sure she continued to look picture-perfect for the cameras until they made it inside the theater.
Chivalry — you may have heard of it — apparently isn't dead, after all.
